Costa Rica – Two Oceans Tour

San Jose- Tortuguero- Arenal-Guanacaste

Day 1 – San Jose – Naranjo Coffee Plantations

Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival at the San Jose International airport (also known as Juan Santamaria Airport) you will be greeted by our local representative who will assist you to your unescorted transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 – San Jose – Poas Volcano – Coffee – Sarchi

Today, after breakfast you will visit the most characteristic attractions of Costa Rica; the magnificent Poas Volcano, a coffee plantation and the small town of Sarchi. During the tour, you will pass through coffee, sugarcane, fern and strawberry plantations on your way to Poas Volcano National Park. Enjoy the incredible trails and magnificent views while walking through the park and perhaps you will be able to witness one of the occasional geyser-like eruptions from the Poas Volcano. The journey continues to Doka Estate, one of Costa Rica’s premium coffee plantations. From picking the coffee berries to roasting and grinding of the coffee beans, you will observe how Costa Rican premium quality coffees are produced. Our next and final stop of the day will take us to the quaint town of Sarchi; known for their beautiful wooden craftsmanship.
Return to hotel in the afternoon.

Day 3 – San Jose – Tortuguero National Park

Today you will depart from San Jose to the Tortuguero area early in the morning. On our journey, we will pass through Braulio Carrilo National park and enjoy the gorgeous flora and fauna of Costa Rica. After breakfast en route, the tour continues to the dock area on the Carribean side, where a boat to your lodge is waiting for you. You will take an approximately 90-minute ride through the canals sheltered in the jungle of the rainforest. There will be a small briefing and welcome upon arrival at the lodge which will be followed by lunch. In the afternoon you will visit the village of Tortuguero and learn about the lifestyle of local residents and their significant conservation efforts to protect the sea turtles that spawn each year along its 22-mile coastline.

Day 4 – Tortuguero National Park

After breakfast, you will explore the secondary canals of this area and get closer to nature. Enjoy and take in all the sights and sounds at Tortuguero National Park where you may have the chance to see a green macaw, the oriole Montezuma, numerous waterfowl and fresh-water turtles. From July to October you have the opportunity to take an optional turtle-watching tour during the evening and witness the massive turtles come to lay their eggs on the beach every night.

Day 5 – Tortuguero National Park – Arenal Volcano

Today, after breakfast, you will take a boat to transfer back to the local dock inland. Upon arrival, ground transportation will take you to the area of Guapiles, where lunch will be served. After lunch, you will continue on an unescorted transfer to the northern lowlands, giving us the opportunity to pass through different towns such as Puerto Viejo (Sarapiqui), San Miguel, Venecia and Aguas Zarcas. Along the way, you will notice the agriculture of the area including pineapples, bananas, oranges and sugar canes depending on the time of the year. Arrival in La Fortuna Village in the late afternoon where you will be welcomed by the magnificent sight that is the Arenal Volcano.

Day 6 – Arenal Volcano

This morning you will visit the Arenal Vida Campesina property. You will enjoy a guided tour through the area with a chance to take part in activities such as milking a cow, making tortillas, the milling of the sugar cane and much more. Enjoy a typical, organic lunch made with produce harvested on the property and cooked on a woodstove. After lunch, you will be able to visit the surrounding areas of Arenal Volcano and hike along the trails with an expert guide. After the hike, feel free to enjoy the mineral waters of the pools surrounded by tropical forest.

Day 7 – Arenal Volcano

After breakfast, enjoy the day at your leisure to explore the Arenal Volcano area.

Day 8 – Arenal Volcano – Guanacaste

Your jouney continues today from Arenal Volcano area to our Pacific Coast in the Guanacaste Province. During the transfer make sure to take in the views from Arenal Lake and its natural beauty. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with the scent of fresh sea air from this non-traditional beach destination. The rest of the day will be spent at your leisure to relax or do some exploring on your own.

Day 9/10/11 – Guanacaste, Langosta Beach

Your stay in Guanacaste will be spent at your leisure to enjoy the beach, explore the town or perhaps take part in one of our optional tours (own account) to visit the Rincon de la Vieja National Park, a Boat ride in the surroundings of Palo Verde National Park, rafting, fishing and much more!

Day 12 – Guanacaste, Langosta Beach – San Jose

Today, in the afternoon, you will transfer from the Guanacaste area and return to San Jose.

Day 13 – San Jose International Airport

Transfer to San Jose International airport to continue your journey or fly back home.
