Lima- Valle Sagrado- Machu Picchu- Aguas Calientes-Cusco

Day 1 – Lima

Upon arrival, our local representative will greet and assist you on your transfer to the hotel.
Overnight in Lima.

Day 2 – Lima

After breakfast , a grand Lima city tour awaits you.The tour will start with the exploration of Colonial Lima. Our first stop is the Main Square where you will get the chance to enjoy a walking tour and see sights such as the exteriors of the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima and the City Hall. We will visit the Cathedral of Lima and walk through the cathedral’s many chapels. Our next stop is at the beautiful colonial mansion, Casa Aliaga which is the oldest continously inhabited private residence in the Southern Hemisphere. The tour will continue to the Pueblo Libre District to visit the Larco Museum, home to more than 3,000 years of Peru’s pre-Columbian history. We will complete the tour with a visit to the Bohemian neighbourhood of Barranco (home to numerous talented artists, photographers and authors) and a visit to Puente de los Suspiros (Bridge of Sighs).

Day 3 – Lima – Valle Sagrado

After breakfast, you will be assisted to your transfer to the airport for your flight to Cusco . Upon arrival at Cusco, the tour continues with a trip towards the Sacred Valley, a few miles away we will arrive in Pisac, a beautiful town where Incan and Colonial influences have reached a perfect balance. Travel a few miles and we will reach the slopes of the mountain which overlooks the Vilacanota River and reach the Archaelogical Park of Pisac. Keep an eye out for the andens of different areas and altitudes separated by architectural structures, especially the solar calendar (Intiwatana) which means `Where the sun is tied`. After the tour you will continue to the hotel for check-in and an overnight stay in Valle Sagrado.

Day 4 – Valle Sagrado

Breakfast at hotel. This morning our journey continues towards the Sacred Valley. About 28 km away from Cusco we will reach the Chinchero village with an altitude of 3,772 metres above sea level. Chinchero is famous for its talented textile makers and the beautiful fabrics they produce. We will cross the Urubamba River and head towards the Salt Pans of Maras; a still operating salt mine used since Incan times. The tour continues on until we reach the archaelogical site of Moray, a great feat of Incan advancement, which is used as an agricultural testing ground. We will then have lunch at a local restaurant. We will finish off the day with a visit to Ollantaytambo; one of the last remaining Incan towns.

Day 5 – Valle Sagrado – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes

Today, after breakfast, we will visit the Santuario Historico de Machu Picchu via Vistadome train. Aboard the train, enjoy the magnificent views and take in the natural beauty en route to Machu Picchu. You will be greeted upon arrival and assisted to your bus that will take you to the entrance gate of the citadel of Machu Picchu. Follow the steps of the ancient Incans as you walk through one of the Seven Wonders of the world. The tour will be followed with lunch at a local restaurant. Your journey will continue with a transfer to Aguas Calientes and check into your hotel for the evening.

Day 6 – Aguas Calientes – Cusco

Breakfast at the hotel. The morning will be spent at your leisure, you may take the option to visit the citadel on your own again or if you are feeling adventurous and climb up Huayna Picchu where you can visit the Templo de la Luna (be sure to buy your tickets in advance as there is a maximum daily number of visitors allowed to climb Huayna Picchu). In the afternoon you will board the return train at Aguas Calientes and return to the station just outside of Cusco. A private transfer will greet you upon arrival and take you back to your hotel in the city.

Day 7 – Cusco

Breakfast at the hotel before exploring the city of Cusco with the morning visit to Cristo Blanco, Sacsayhuaman, San Pedro Market , Koricancha and Cathedral. In the afternoon, the tour continues with a visit to Cerro Pukamoqo (Red Peak) where you will enjoy one of the best views of the city of Cusco. Take in the view of the outstreched arms of Cristo Blanco, a massive white statue of Christ, overlooking the city. We will then make our way over to the Fortaleza de Sacsayhuaman, a colossal structure of massive stones which are carved and fitted together with incredible precision. As we make our way down to the lower part of the city, we will visit the Mercado de San Pedro, the city’s main street market , to have a first hand look of the products of Cusco. Just a few blocks away, we will make our way to the most impressive buildings of Incan Cusco : the Korikancha (the Golden Temple) – a temple dedicated to the worship of the Sun God. Finish the tour off with a stroll through the Plaza de Armas (Main Square) where you can visit the Cathedral and view the beautiful paintings from Cusco School from the 17th and 18th century.

Day 8 – Cusco

Today, after breakfast, you will check out of the hotel and be assisted to your transfer to the airport for your flight home via Lima.
