Johannesburg-Hazyview- Kruger National Park-Swaziland-KwaZulu-Natal-St Lucia-Durban-Drakensberg-Eastern Cape Coast- Knysna-Oudtshoorn- Capetown

Day 1 – Johannesburg

Upon arrival, you will be greeted and assisted to your shuttle transfer service to your accommodations. You have the rest of the day at your leisure until 19h00 when everyone will meet at the hotel reception for the tour briefing and the opportunity to meet your fellow travellers.

Day 2 – Hazyview

In the morning, you will leave for Mpumalanga, dropping down several hundred feet into the lush subtropical region of Lowveld. Travel along the circular Panorama Route via Graskop to visit the view sites of the Blyde River Canyon, one of the natural wonders of Africa. Take in the glory of God’s Window with an endless view of mountains and fertile plains. Finally, visit Bourke’s Luck Potholes before continuing to Hazyview.

Day 3 – Hazyview – Kruger National Park – Hazyview

Rise and shine today as you have a bright and early start to fully experience the wonders of exploring the Kruger National Park in a closed touring vehicle. The morning will be spent with the Big Five in the Kruger National Park. The Park is an internationally renowned game reserve of approximately 2 million hectares and supports the largest variety of wildlife species in Africa. Keep an eye out for the beautiful flora and bird life around you. After returning to your hotel around lunch time, you will have the afternoon to do as you please.

Day 4 – Hazyview – Swaziland

After breakfast, check out of the hotel and continue your journey on to Swaziland. Heading south to Malalane and then Swaziland is where you will visit a real Chief’s village and a once in a lifetime opportunity to gain an authentic understanding of traditional Swazi culture.

Day 5 – Swaziland – St Lucia and Surroundings

Journey through Swaziland into Zululand with chances to stop at the roadside markets to shop for souvenirs for loved ones and to feed your curiosity at other trinkets that are offered. Continue into the Kingdom of KwaZulu-Natal where ancient traditions and modern cultures of the Zulu and Settler have combined into a vibrant community living in peace and harmony. In the afternoon, you will arrive in the Umfolozi area for your overnight stay.

Day 6 – St. Lucia and Surroundings – Durban

You will have some free time to relax in the tourist town of St. Lucia before heading off to Durban later in the morning. You have the option to stay in, take an optional boat cruise (own account), or immerse in the atmosphere. In Durban, there will be an orientation tour that introduces you to this multiculturally vibrant seaside city before arriving at the hotel later in the afternoon.

Day 7 – Durban – Drakensberg

Have a leisurely breakfast or take an early morning cab ride to stroll along the Umhlanga Beach Promenade, which is full of energy as cyclists, joggers, and surfers alike enjoy this seaside playground. After a relaxing morning, you will head into the majestic southern Drakensberg Mountains, stopping at the 300 high Howick Falls, then you will continue through the Southern Midlands Meander Route, arriving at the hotel mid-afternoon. Your afternoon is at your leisure again to explore the surroundings or perhaps even fish, hike, and go on an optional horse riding tour in the clean mountain air (own account).

Day 8 – Drakensberg

Today we have a full day to experience the breathtaking surroundings of Southern Drakensberg Mountains. There will be a host of leisure activities available (own account) to enjoy the tranquil beauty of this location.

Day 9 – Drakensberg – Eastern Cape Coast

Continue your journey south to the Eastern Cape by entering the fourth of the provinces and the birthplace of Nelson Mandela (fondly known as Madiba). On the way, you will see the old traditional way of life in the homeland area known as Transkei, where you will stop for lunch outside the capital of Umtata. The journey continues via Nelson Mandela’s birthplace and house arriving late in the afternoon at your accommodation in Chintsa East on the beautiful, unspoiled Eastern Cape Coast.

Day 10 – Eastern Cape Coast

The sounds of waves crashing on the shore will awake you this morning where you will have the opportunity to relax on the beach. The beach stretches on for many kilometers with the thick indigenous beach forest homing a vast variety of birdlife. After lunch, you will continue south to Port Elizabeth.

Day 11 – Knysna

Today the adventure continues towards the Cape. You will visit the Tsitsikamma Forest with scenic walking opportunities. A short walk to the Storms River mouth offers spectacular views of the gorge and the river below. In the late afternoon, you will arrive in Knysna to check into the hotel.

Day 12 – Oudtshoorn

After breakfast, you will travel inland to the magnificent Outeniqua Pass to Oudtshoorn, known as the “feather capital of the world” because of its ostrich industry. Visit a working ostrich farm and explore the famous Cango Caves. Walk through the Cango Caves with their amazing dripstone formations of stalactites and stalagmites. (2017 itinerary – travel back to the Eastern seaboard to arrive in Mossel Bay in the afternoon to visit the famous Post Office Tree, the Bartholomeus Diaz Museum, and the Shell Museum).

Day 13 – Cape Town

Today’s journey ends in beautiful Cape Town. Drive through Swellendam, Robertson, Worcester and through the Huguenot Tunnel before arriving in Cape town in the late afternoon.

Day 14 – Cape Town

Enjoy a leisure day in the “Mother City” where the V&A Waterfront is a must-see attraction. Spend the day enjoying quality time exploring this beautiful city or go on one of the optional excursions available.

Day 15 – Cape Town

After breakfast this morning, check out of the hotel at 11 am. The rest of the day will be at your leisure until you transfer to Cape Town International Airport.
